Mechanical Design Engineer-Aerospace

We are searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work on new Air Data Sensor hardware design projects, provide designs and assist in the program management of new development programs.  As part of a cross-functional team, the Mechanical Design Engineer will develop and support Air Data Sensor products for Aerospace applications.
  

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design new Air Data Sensors for the Aerospace industry
  • Actively share analysis discoveries with colleagues, drive for novel, but effective designs.  Lead design efforts if needed
  • Work independently or with a diversified team to identify problems, define problems, define approaches, and perform analysis
  • Compile findings into reports or presentations in an efficient manner
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-learn new technologies and acquire new problem-solving skills as needed
  • Works in conjunction with manufacturing engineering to develop design/assembly techniques
  • Handle multiple projects at a time and effectively prioritize tasks
  • Self motivated team player
  • Solid Modeling of components and assemblies
  • Structural and thermal modeling of hardware
  • Development of test plans and reports
  • Internal and external presentations on mechanical design status
  • Performs Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) of new designs
  • Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics is a plus.
  • Completes reports for development and qualification testing of new products
  • Performs additional duties and assignments, as requested

 

Skills and Experience:     

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as a design/project engineer.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical design along with thermodynamic analysis. 
  • Proficient with Pro/E solid modeling software. 
  • General knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • A candidate with analytical background in thermal analysis as well as instrument / heater designs a plus
  • Familiarity with DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 requirements, thermal and structural FEA, and Computational Fluid Dynamics a plus.
  • Program planning and management experience a plus.
